Description and Requirements

What you'll do: The position is for a DC Design Engineer Engineer in the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), based in Bangalore, Karnataka. This is an exciting role in the ThinkSystem Server Development organization that has a strong focus to be the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter market. The DC power design engineer will be an integral member of a team responsible for developing innovative and complex server designs to meet customer and business needs. These organic designs provide exposure to the latest technologies from Lenovo and its development partners to meet market demands. The role also entails solving unique client challenges through the custom development of solutions.

Required skills :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering.

  • 7+ years of in-depth experience in x86 architecture and hardware design. Server-related power design experience is strongly preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in power design tools, supporting physical design activity, and then defining/performing high-level hardware validation.

  • This position is responsible for covering all development engineering aspects of DC power design. Good power design technology management skills to ensure the design can meet our product requirements.

  • Perform spec reviews, discussion and technology comparison to recommend power solutions and vendor selection

  • Provide new power design technology assessment and perform market research

  • Manage and guide vendors to follow Lenovo process, product spec to complete design developing

  • Detail review on design and checklist for generating validation guidance and test plan ensure design qualified

  • Own strong analytical/problem-solving skills and the ability to help management to make critical decisions and learn lessons for issue prevention

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks, potentially including customer engagements, architecture design/feedback, and executive updates.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both a team environment and self-directed; passionate about learning new technologies and skills.

Preferred skills:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Previous experience in DC Power circuit design, simulation, and validation.

  • Proficiency in Linux/Windows Operating systems. Experience with OS virtualization.

  • Strong proficiency in shell scripting (BASH/Perl/Python/Labview and Windows Power Shell)

  • Demonstrated successful power design execution on a project with engineering team members located in multiple geographies.

  • Business acumen to engage with various functional teams required to take projects from concept to production.
