Introduction

This position is for a Etch Process Engineer in GlobalFoundries India center at Bangalore, to complement the existing module engineering teams in the USA and Germany fab locations. This pioneering role will focus on enabling the efficiency and effectiveness of the fab onsite team. The primary responsibilities of this position are to sustain the manufacturing production line, troubleshoot process and equipment signals, monitor and respond to inline/defect signals and optimize unit processes in order to meet device performance requirements for leading edge technology. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to assist in tooling qualification, transitioning processes into manufacturing, and maintaining the processes in manufacturing.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Module process engineers with direct authority, providing day-to-day operations support.

  • Coordinate daily engineering activities on-shift to meet manufacturing objectives and department KPIs.

  • Coordinate training to develop shift engineers to perform their respective job assignments by following defined SOP’s.

  • Closely interface with equipment team to understand PM & CM activities and follow appropriate process qualifications.

  • Review daily goals/priorities, qualification timelines and ensure resolution of open issues.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects to optimize processes with regards to process stability and wafer yield.

  • Complete performance evaluations and career development plans for the shift team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters/Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Science in Physics/Chemistry/Material Science

  • Experience – bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years, master's degree with 0-1 years of experience in semiconductor Etching process engineering are required.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address yield-related issues and challenges.

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results within established timelines.

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Leading a team of employees in daily operational activities and reviewing work to ensure performances are as per SOP.

  • Training team members on various technical job functions including tool qualification setup and response, lot hold response, wafer recovery from tools in error state, response to inline SPC and product defectivity highlights.

  • Tracking team member performance vs. Module defined KPIs.
