Job Description

Provides social work services to patients/residents in acute, ambulatory or long term care settings. Services to patients/residents and their families include: identification of psychosocial needs, psychosocial assessment, pre-admission screening and admitting services for long term care patients, discharge planning, crisis intervention, information and referral, protective services, and patient/resident education. Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team for patient/resident care. Duties may also include assistance with program development, evaluation, professional education, or supervision of students and BSW staff.

LCSW Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)

  • Current State of Missouri License as a Licensed Social Worker

  • Two years post-graduate clinical experience

  • Knowledge of theory and practice of social work at the MSW level and have basic research skills

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and ability to do public speaking

  • Ability to work effectively with physicians, other health care professionals and culturally diverse patients

  • If driving is a requirement for the employee, he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment

  • Previous experience in health or mental health care preferred

LMSW Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)

  • MO LMSW or MO LMSW eligible (LMSW eligible Social Workers must obtain licensures by completion of the introductory period of employment – or within 90 days)

  • Knowledge of theory and practice of social work at the MSW level and have basic research skills

  • Must have the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and with patients of various ages and cultural backgrounds

  • Must have excellent written/verbal communication skills

  • Previous health care experience preferred
