LPN (Medical) Wichita, KS-Newton

Do you love providing compassionate care to those who suffer from illnesses or injuries? My client is in need of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for their Medical Unit.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides supportive and restorative nursing care within the framework of the nursing process in partnership with a registered nurse (RN). This position requires a customer service-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills for the purpose of supporting delivery of care and services to patients from diverse ethnic and social groups. Independent decision making is expected in the execution of daily routine duties. LPNs who successfully complete a state board approved IV therapy course and passes the exam may manage IV fluids.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Provide age-appropriate care; Develop interpersonal relationships with patients and families with an emphasis on caring;
  • Effective communication skills with ability to listen both verbally and non-verbally;
  • Works independently and takes initiative on behalf of the patient;
  • Manages time effectively; Demonstrates accountability and responsibility for safe patient care.
  • Required: Current Licensure as a Practical Nurse in the state of Kansas and CPR/Basic Life Support.
  • Preferred: Required plus IV Therapy Certification from State of Kansas Board of Nursing. Additional certifications may be required depending on department/unit assigned.

DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Upholds companys vision, mission, and core values. Follows hospital-wide and departmental policies, including but not limited to general procedures, assigned duties, confidentiality, and observing the Patients Bill of Rights.
  • Utilizes the nursing process in the care of patients utilizing appropriate techniques and tools, taking into consideration the age, mental status, cultural and physical condition of the patient;
  • Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for assigned patients;
  • Evaluates patient outcomes/responses to interventions and collaborates with the RN on patient care;
  • Identifies and reports patient condition changes to the patients provider;
  • Adheres to and assists with the updating of an individualized plan of care;
  • Participates in emergency situations as directed or per assignment.
  • Computer knowledge required.
  • Administers medications, including IV meds in a safe manner

4 POSITIONS AVAILABLE! (2 NIGHT &2 DAY)

(7 pm to 7 am) & day (7 am to 7 pm)

This opportunity offers competitive base pay with Med/Surg LPN shift differentials up to 55%on the weekends.

As of 1/21/22, all employees must be vaccinated unless a medical or religious exemption is needed.

Education and experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • Graduation from accredited school of Practical Nursing
  • Experience with and knowledge of medical terminology and medications
  • Experience with and knowledge of medical office procedures, including draw/administration of injections
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation

Licensure and certifications:

  • Current license as a practical nurse in the state of Kansas
  • Basic Life Support is required
  • Preferred: IV Therapy Certification from State of Kansas Board of Nursing.
  • Additional certifications my be required depending on department/unit assigned.

Hourly pay range \$17-30 per hour (depending on experience and shift)
