Job Description:

Global Earthworks and Underground has an opening for a Help Desk Technician. The Help Desk Technician must have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution. They must also be customer-oriented and patient to deal with difficult situations. The following role responsibilities are not all encompassing as specific work tasks vary.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the IT Department.
  • Perform routine troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
  • Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers.
  • Walk the user through the problem-solving process.
  • Testing data exchange and communication between computers, routers, modems, and servers.
  • Determining company needs and coordinating the development and maintenance of network infrastructures with the IT team.
  • Direct unresolved issues to the next level support personnel.
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements to procedures.
  • Procure, setup, track and/or distribute company property, iPad, laptop, monitors, printers, company cell phones.
  • Manage continued functionality of network printers through contact with Vendors.
  • Understand and assist employees with desk phone setup and functionality.
  • Maintain company equipment distribution by employee in HRIS system.
  • Manage company cloud environments with appropriate security levels.
  • Assist employees with various technology needs through troubleshooting and job site visits, when needed.
  • Set up, deploy, and maintain virtual desktop.
  • Analyze current company systems and provide recommendations to improve overall security and functionality and provide upgrades to network and infrastructure systems.
  • Determine security violations and train employees regarding cyber security awareness.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced level computer skills including MS Windows, Mac iOS, word processing, spreadsheet processing, electronic communication, database management, and internet browsing.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve computer hardware problems.
  • Knowledge of network device commands and configuration.
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer and software skills on a regular basis.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Show up on time and ready to work when scheduled.
  • Must be able to travel within local areas.
  • On call availability when needed.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A bility to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, walk, stand; able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years qualified work experience
  • Network (preferred)
  • CompTIA A (preferred)
  • Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize work.
