UMB Bank Investment Strategist II in Kansas City, Missouri

Every step of the UMB Private Wealth Management investment process is overseen and executed by dedicated teams of research and portfolio specialists. From both a top-down and bottom-up perspective --- from the global macro-economic environment down to individual security selections and concluding with Strategic and Policy oversight --- teams of experts develop and implement the guiding investment themes and the fulfillment strategies to optimally leverage the division’s outlook for the upcoming cycle, in the manner best suited to the clients’ goals and objectives.

The Investment Strategist II works directly with our high-net-worth clients to create custom investment solutions that harness the power of the investment process. This position is located at our Plaza office: 4900 Main St., in Kansas City, MO.

How you’ll spend your time:

  • Manage assigned accounts for high net worth (HNW) clients that typically have between $1-$5million in investable assets. Requires significant client retention skills and ability to support the new business development efforts of the Wealth Advisor.

  • Implement the investment policy within portfolios for which UMB has investment responsibility and communicate this policy to HNW clients.

  • Increase Assets under Management (AUM) and revenue by conveying the UMB investment process and policies to prospective clients to help the Wealth Advisor complete the sale of investment services.

  • Build and maintain customer relationships through quality customer service, anticipating client needs, and communication to meet defined objectives.

  • Other duties as assigned.

We’re excited to talk to you if:

  • You possess a bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent experience.

  • You have 5+ years’ experience in Investment Management, Financial Planning or Brokerage that includes communicating complex and detailed information related to investment management process and portfolio construction

  • You demonstrate the ability to develop, expand, and close relationships with clients and external professionals (attorneys, financial advisors, accountants) to enhance business opportunities.

  • You demonstrate good communication skills (verbal, written, listening, presentation).

  • You demonstrate trust, investment, and trading knowledge of portfolio modeling, platforms, policies and procedures, state and federal laws/regulations.

  • You demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); Advent MOXY or AXYS; Thompson Reuters or Bloomberg; and Power Image.

Bonus points if:

  • You hold one of the following credentials: MBA, CFA, CFP, CPA, or JD.

  • You have direct experience managing and rebalancing individual portfolios through a multi-asset class investment strategy.

  • You have supervisory or team leadership experience.

  • You demonstrate competence in all trading requirements including portfolio modeling and order entry with the objective being to minimize trade errors.

  • You have a willingness to pursue additional, advanced certifications and other training (CFA, CFP or other relevant license) as needed.

  • You are active in community and professional organizations.

Compensation Range:

Minimum: $83,200.00 - Maximum: $214,560.00
