Aerotek Diesel Mechanic in Kansas City, Missouri

*Traveling Diesel Mechanic - WEEKLY PAY - $40/Hour - Per Diem each day*

*Pay*

$30 - $40 (Monday – Friday) will be required to travel

$100/per day per diem 7 days a week

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic with the ability to travel anywhere in the United States. This is a fully travel-based role, with the home base being the candidate's current location. The majority of work will be performed in the Midwest, particularly in Texas and Nebraska, but the candidate must be able to travel to any location in the United States where the company has projects. The candidate will need to supply their own tools and be able to operate a company vehicle. A truck will be provided. The Diesel Mechanic will support an earth-moving company by servicing and repairing heavy equipment such as Haul Trucks, Scrapers, Dozers, Water Trucks, Excavators, and Skid Steers. Any major repairs will be sent to a CAT service center in the area where the job is located. The mechanic must be able to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel-powered equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and trucks

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in a timely manner

  • Conduct thorough troubleshooting to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions

  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to aid in repairs

  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed

  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics preferred

  • Experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in a construction or heavy equipment environment

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems

  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and equipment

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
