Insight Global Cost Accounting Manager in Kansas City, Missouri

Job Description

A client of Insight Global's is hiring for a Cost Accounting Manager position. This candidate will be responsible for building the standard cost model from the ground up; and will be overseeing a team of analyst, who will lead the fixed asset accouting team (responsible for managing the finaicials of operational cost being purchased).

Essential Duties:

Coordinate and support monthly financial close, cycle counts, and inventory audits

Reviews vendor invoices for payments of manufacturing raw materials, including research, correspondence, and follow-up of discrepancies

Monthly reconciliations of vendor statements vs. raw material payables

Conduct reviews of accounting of variances (PPV, Inventory, Absorption, etc.) directing improvement plans to the business

Monthly raw material standard vs. actual reconciliation and corresponding variance explanations

Various general ledger account reconciliations -- ensuring accurate financial postings

Maintains, reviews, and communicates cost center expenses in conjunction with FP&A Team, ensuring proper documentation and system entries

Ability to identify issues and work within the finance team and other teams to resolve the issues

Advanced understanding of how supply chain flow and manufacturing processes interact with the general ledger

Manage fixed asset acquisition, capitalization and life cycle activities

Build bottom up comprehensive inventory cost roll using standard cost principles.

Works closely and collaboratively across multi-department teams

Communicate effectively with fellow team members and members of other departments

Ability to use reasoning to solve problems that may arise

Utilize established resources to complete work efficiently and effectively

Timeliness and accuracy of work is important

Supports Cost Accounting efforts for maintaining JSOX Internal Controls

Assists with maintenance of accounting policies and procedures as they are developed.

Assist auditors with any inquiries and samples

Other various administrative support as needed

Skills and Requirements

Bachelors Degree

Accounting, Finance, Economics or Related

10+ years experience in Cost Accounting

Fundamental understanding of general accounting principles and procedures (GAAP)

Advanced literacy with Microsoft Office, especially Excel spreadsheets and database functions for tracking, variance analysis and reporting Knowledge of SAP, Oracle or another fully integrated ERP system

Previously worked within a Manufacturing or Production Environment/Company

Previous Leadership Experience, team of 5 to 10+ Previously building the standard cost model from the ground up

Advanced Degree

Experience with SAP S4

CPA or MBA null
