Burns & McDonnell Assistant Landscape Architect - Commercial Architecture (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Assistant Landscape Architect will assist project teams to create world class designs for new projects, site improvements and redevelopments on a variety of project types including Master planning and urban design, public plazas, streetscapes, parks, corporate, healthcare, institutional, industrial and manufacturing.

The Assistant Landscape Architect will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting landscape architectural plans according to budget constraints, environmental factors or client needs.

  • Assists in the landscape architectural design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.

  • Assists with modifying and reviewing production drawings for a variety of project types.

  • Applies basic knowledge of commonly used landscape architectural concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the industry.

  • Assists with research and complies project related data as required.

  • Assists with correcting and updating drawings provided by senior architects to ensure corrections are made within multiple software platforms.

  • Assists with client presentations, renderings and marketing collateral.

  • Assists in performing field observations, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program is required

  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience is preferred

  • Portfolio demonstrating design and graphic presentation skills is preferred.

  • Basic knowledge in standard landscape architectural techniques, principles and procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Basic software and computer skills required including, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Land F/x, Adobe Suite, 3D Rendering Programs, such as Sketchup and Enscape

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
