Queen's Health System Occupational Therapist - Occupational Therapy (Big Island, Part-Time, 32, Days) in Kamuela, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under general direction of the Manager, responsible for providing occupational therapy services, including but not limited to screening; examination/re-examination; evaluation; diagnosis; prognosis; plan of care; interventions; outcomes assessment; education, practice management; professionalism; consultation; evidence based practice; cultural competency; and promotion of health, wellness and prevention.

• Depending upon area of assignment, provides a variety of occupational therapy services to assist patients regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by implementing programs in activities of daily living.

• Responsible for the assessment, treatment, or care of all ages. Responsible for individualized treatment plan that reflects the developmental cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process and range of treatment needs for each patient.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Seeing, hearing, speaking, standing, finger dexterity, sitting.

• Continuous: Reaching below shoulder.

• Frequent: Stooping/bending, reaching above/below shoulder, squatting, twisting body, repetitive arm/hand motions, lifting up to 2 pounds.

• Occasional: Kneeling, crawling, walking on uneven ground, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods of time, frequent gripping of an object pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds of force, carrying usual weight of 20 pounds.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

• Occasional exposure to safety hazards, diseases, or contamination.

• Exposure to body fluids and wastes; hazards from electrical

• Works with mechanical/power equipment; subjected to injury from moving parts of equipment.

• May perform emergency care.

• Subjected to many interruptions and variables throughout the day.

• Required Personal Protective Equipment: Eye protection, gown, mask, non-sterile or sterile medical gloves, booties and bonnet.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Current Hawaii State license as an Occupational Therapist.

• Current BLS certification.

EXPERIENCE

• Prior Occupational Therapist experience preferred.

• Experience to demonstrate the following:

o Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to age of patients served.

o Knowledge of state and federal guidelines/regulations.

o Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

o Strong organization and planning skills: anticipate tasks/prioritize assignments; manage multiple projects, varying schedule and clinical load.
