Queen's Health System House Coordinator - Patient Care Admin (Big Island, Part-Time, 36) in Kamuela, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under the general direction of the Administrator, Director of Nursing, supervises patient care services staff on assigned shift.

• As a member of the Rapid Response Team (RRT), responds to calls from nursing staff in order to avert further deterioration of a patient’s condition.

• Promotes and maintains quality patient care through effective management of the activities of the total patient care services during his/her assigned shift.

• In the absence of the Administrator and/or designee, the House Coordinator has the authority and responsibility for administrative decisions and appropriate notification of the Administrator-On-Call.

• Responsible for the assessment, treatment, or care of all ages as required. Interprets patient’s self-report or behavior with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process. Treatment of patients should be individualized and reflect an understanding of the developmental needs and range of treatment needs for each patient.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Essential: seeing, hearing, speaking.

• Continuous: lifting up to 2 lb., finger dexterity, stooping/bending, forward reaching, kneeling, crouching.

• Frequent: standing, walking.

• Occasional: pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds of force; lifting: horizontal lift/carry up to 75 lbs. with assistance, floor to waist up to 35 lbs., waist to shoulder up to 25 lbs., overhead level up to 15 lbs.; carrying up to 35 lbs, running, climbing stairs, kneeling, crouching, reaching above, at and below shoulder level.

• Operates clinical equipment, computer, FAX machine, copier, multi-line telephone, printer.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Generally good working conditions with little or no exposure to noise, temperature, health hazards, etc.

• Subjected to many interruptions.

• Occasionally subjected to irregular hours.

• Occasionally subjected to multiple calls and inquiries.

• Required Personal Protective Equipment: Eye protection, gown, mask, mask with face shield, non-sterile/sterile medical gloves, CAPR.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

• Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse.

• Associate’s degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification from the Emergency Nurses Association preferred.

• Current BLS-HCP, PALS and ACLS.

EXPERIENCE:

• Two (2) years recent nursing experience.

• Prior supervisory experience.

• Prior ICU and ER experience preferred.

• Experience to demonstrate:

o Ability to problem-solve issues, i.e. process flow, equipment or interpersonal conflict.

o Ability to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing.
