The Supply business is composed of Source, Plan, Make and Move sections supported by the governance and manufacturing Excellence teams. Supply is accountable for the overall planning, sourcing, production, and warehousing of finished products. The Demand business is involved in marketing and selling the product through RTM partners and retailers to consumers supported by HR, CR & Legal and Finance as enablers.

The logistics section is part of the Supply department and coordinates warehousing and distribution of all finished goods. The geographical scope covers two warehousing sites at Port bell and distribution for Uganda and the Greatlakes region (Rwanda, DRC, and Burundi).

About the role

Financial: Logistics budget is the second highest contributor of COGs therefore a good ability to cost savings is a must.

Market complexity: Establish outstanding customer service delivery performance by coordinating a consistent movement of goods within the supply chain from production, order processing and shipping to the final customer both local and international.

Leadership responsibilities: This position provides direction and leadership to the logistics transport team responsible for finished goods and works closely with the Operations manager, National Distributor Manager, and the Planning manager.

Purpose of role : Management of Transport of goods (Physical and System), Turnaround time on site, Transit Time, and Turnaround time at CD.

Role responsibilities/accountabilities

  • Develop and publish Daily inbound and outbound transport plans using the TMS.

  • Handle transport spend to be within budget and delivering operational savings. Bringing innovative thinking into our transport operations to deliver on cost and service in a safe manner.

  • Provide experienced transport knowledge understanding market dynamics to ensure credibility of logistics.

  • Plan and lead transport operations at UBL to ensure operation efficiencies (TAT, Truck utilization, route optimization) and customer service (CFR, OTIFNE and returns).

  • Develop and implement safety, CARM, SFIPP and all Diageo controls plus government regulations in the transport operations of the market.

  • Network modelling to help reduce cost and drive efficiency within the operation.

  • Understanding of the Transportation management system (TMS) and how it operates. Using this system to optimize our transport operation to drive cost and efficiency.

Qualifications and experience

Qualifications

  • Business administration, logistics and supply chain management.

  • High cognitive ability

Experience

  • 3 years’ Experience and Knowledge in supply chain management preferable in FMCG industry.

  • Extensive exposure to cross-functional coordination/ planning & customer service vital.

  • Experience in Logistics, Warehouse and Distribution planning and strategies

  • Success in highly fast paced FMCGs Organizations
