POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for the project management of underground primary line extensions, overhead primary line extensions (600’ or less), single phase services up to 800 amps, three phase services up to 400 amps, single phase cable replacements, 10 lot or less subdivisions, small three phase cable replacements, distribution pole change outs, and distribution capital projects.REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS STATEMENTTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1.Must have a thorough knowledge of FEC Specifications, Service Requirements, NESC Requirements, and Engineering Software Programs. Exercise knowledge of practical construction methods.2.Use engineering design tools with minimum guidance to include but not limited to StakeOut, AutoCAD, SAG10, and Pole Foreman.3.Apply knowledge of the above to meet and discuss projects with members, prepare designs, stake, legally obtain easements, obtain appropriate permits, prepare cost estimates, and oversee work completed by members for underground primary line extensions, overhead primary line extensions (600’ or less), single phase services up to 800 amps, three phase services up to 400 amps, single phase cable replacements, 10 lot or less subdivisions, small three phase cable replacements, distribution pole change outs, and distribution capital projects. Drive to sites to meet with members, and utilize various equipment, such as ladders or other tools, complying with all safety regulations and policies. 4.Responsible for working with FEC contractors by preparing job specific drawings, assisting by answering questions, assuring that projects are built to FEC standards, and reviewing contractor bills.5.Within two years of entering this position employee must be able to engineer and design for the above stated projects with minimal assistance from supervisors and have the ability to produce different solutions to situations.6.Demonstrate ability in the following: effectively utilize personal computers and CAD systems; federal, state and local codes dealing with utility operations; able to collect and organize data from a variety of sources; able to research alternative courses of action beyond prescribed guidelines; work effectively with associates, contractors and members; prefer ability to read & interpret electrical engineering specifications.7.Demonstrate knowledge and ability to apply multi-phase design for commercial, industrial and subdivision line extensions.8.Under the direction of the Distribution Design Supervisor, assist senior Distribution Designers and System Lines Designer with projects as requested.9.Assist members with technical problems if possible or ask for assistance. When appropriate, refers members to an outside source (i.e.: electricians, state, etc.).10.As requested, accurately compile data for use in studies and provide accurate information for all system records.11.Keep up-to-date on technical advancements relative to the position in the utility industry.12.When traveling throughout FEC territory, be aware of the condition of the system. When a problem or hazard is noticed, accurately complete a service order and/or communicate with the appropriate FEC department.13.Always assist members/vendors/employees and the general public in a courteous and professional manner ensuring their continued satisfaction with FEC. Work in harmony and show respect to all fellow employees in order to promote an effective and pleasant working environment.14.Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor regarding situations requiring immediate attention, problems/concerns, questions, etc.15.In pursuit of zero workplace incidents, promote and maintain a positive safety culture while adhering to all applicable policies outlined in the Safety Manual. Report all incidents and potential safety hazards in a timely manner to supervisor or Safety Coordinator. 16.Become familiar with and keep current with FEC objectives and applicable policies. 17.Perform other duties as assigned by management applying the same skill and enthusiasm as with regularly assigned responsibilities.MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Associate’s Degree in general engineering, science, mathematics, or specialized electric utility courses. Job Related Experience: 1 to 4 years in operations/engineering with emphasis on design, and construction practices.Supervision: No Experience Supervising Required.Computer Skills: Proficient on computer, including Microsoft Office 365 and operating systems relating to the Utility industry. Certificates & Licenses: Able to take and pass the Staking Certification program.
