Ducommun Manufacturing Project Engineer in Joplin, Missouri

Job Summary & Essential Functions:

· Contribute program and engineering expertise for facility.

· Assist in establishing operational methods and work standards using various measurement techniques

· Analyze existing operations and propose cost-justified improvements

· Optimize use of floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment

· Analyze workstation designs for ergonomic compliance

· Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record-keeping systems

· Develop work simplification methods and job aids

· Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and contract management to establish production layouts and procedures to meet customer requirements

· May perform design on special projects as needed

· Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

· Perform other assignments as required

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:

• 4-year technical degree in industrial engineering is required

• 2-4 years’ experience providing engineering support in electronics manufacturing preferred

Required Skills & Qualifications:

· Demonstrated knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes together with work measurement and work standards

· Proficient in technical writing, good documentation skills; attention to detail is critical

· Required: able to read and interpret engineering drawings

· Prior experience with an ISO-9000 AS-9000 environment is a plus

· Demonstrated analytical expertise including ability to plan, resolve problems effectively, and establish priorities

· Understanding of DOE, 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing desired

· Working knowledge at an intermediate level of computer skills in e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Project

· Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image to attract business

· Negotiation and conflict management skills together with demonstrated experience troubleshooting and problem-solving

· Flexible with high energy, able to handle multiple tasks smoothly
