St. Bernard's Medical Center PATIENT ACCT REP - BUSINESS OFFICE in JONESBORO, Arkansas

  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Previous hospital or medical billing experience preferred. Business training will be considered.

  • Experience

  • A demonstrated knowledge of third party billing and reimbursement. Six months experience in hospital insurance billing or one year processing claims at the carrier level or processing claims in a similar medical facility or physician’s office is preferred. Keyboard, 10 key and other office equipment skills are necessary.

  • Physical

  • Normal hospital business office environment. Extremely close eye work with use of computer up to 8 hours a day. Hearing within normal range. Continuous sitting approximately 90% of the work day. Operates calculator, computer, copier and general office equipment. Occasional walking, bending, carrying and lifting up to 10 pounds.

  • JOB SUMMARY

  • The patient representative is responsible for accurate and timely preparation of claims to third party payers. This position requires timely response to inquiries from both the payer and the patient. The patient representative is responsible for an alphabetic section of a designated payer classification and is expected to keep the accounts within that section current and processed according to hospital and departmental procedure. This position has high contact with patients employees, physicians, and other members of the community
