JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Certification by a national certifying body in Adult, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care or Acute Care with prescriptive privileges. BLS and ACLS certification required.
Or
Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program and successful completion of the National Certification examination through the National Commission of Physician Assistants. Licensed by the State Board of Medicine in Arkansas. BLS and ACLS certification required.
Experience
Must complete a 3 month orientation under the supervision of the intensivist upon commencement of employment. Work experience may be considered in reducing duration of orientation.

Normal hospital environment. Exposure to biological hazards. Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Distinguish smells. Distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. May be exposed to airborne and infectious materials. Required to stand, walk, sit, push and pull, use fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Reach with hands and arms. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
JOB SUMMARY
Provides direct patient care services for complex critically ill adult patients in the ICU setting in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Intensivist. Performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory and other studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, coordinates the care and discharge of patients, and provides direct patient care services. This position is required to utilize independent judgment.
