Hirschbach Motor Lines Trailer Refrigeration Technician - Joliet, IL in Joliet, Illinois

 ​ Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on trailer refrigeration units.

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.

  • Repair or replace defective parts, such as compressors, evaporators, condensers, fans, hoses, belts, and electronic controls.

  • Ensure that all repairs meet or exceed manufacturer’s specifications and company standards.

  • Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation regarding maintenance and repairs.

  • Manage inventory of parts and supplies.

  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Provide excellent customer service, communicating clearly and professionally with drivers and fleet managers.

  • Stay up to date with the latest industry technology and repair techniques through ongoing education and training.

  • Assist other mechanics as needed

    Talent Requirements

  • Technical degree or certification in refrigeration, HVAC, or a related field preferred.

  • Proven experience as a refrigeration mechanic, specifically with trailer units.

  • Understanding of transportation refrigeration operation and microprocessor control systems.

  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

  • 608 Certification.

  • Basic computer skills as it applies to diagnostic tooling.

  • Valid Driver's License 

    Work Environment

The duties required of a Hirschbach Trailer Refrigeration Technician typically takes place in a variety of locations from the repair shop to outdoor environments, and potentially in inclement weather conditions. Noise and temperature extremes may be encountered.

Schedule

  • Sunday - Wednesday, 4:00pm-2:30am

  • Wednesday - Saturday, 4:00pm-2:30am

  • Monday - Thursday, 4:00pm-2:30am

    Pay & Benefits

  • $20/hr - $36/hr based on experience

  • $2/hr shift premium for 2nd shift positions

  • $1,200/annual tool allowance

  • $1,200/annual CDL A stipend

  • Boot allowance
