Johnston Community School District Show Band Director - Bella Voce in Johnston, Iowa

POSITION SUMMARY: Integral part of the show band staff. Helps in rehearsal planning, show design, and in implementing a visual technique in conjunction with the choir director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend all competitions as needed by the choir director

  • Attend all rehearsals and camps during the course of the season

  • Implement music technique in a full ensemble and sectional setting

SKILLS:

  • Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills necessary

  • Conducting and performance skills and experience

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with school personnel and students

  • Contributes to creating a positive work environment

  • Demonstrates integrity and respects confidentiality

  • Arrives on time and works consistently until the end of his/her scheduled day

  • Takes advantage of professional growth opportunities related to his/her specific job

  • Works independently and with confidence

  • Demonstrates ability to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations

  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervision

Professional Performance Criteria

  • Responsible for the conduct of students during practice and competitions

  • Help to promote team morale and spirit and ensure student safety

  • Cooperate with the Activities Director, Principal, and Choir Director and support each other in an ethical manner

  • Report promptly for all practice sessions and contests and dress according to the standards established for that activity
