Corteva Agriscience Security Officer - Afternoon shift in Johnston, Iowa

Description

Then our Johnston IA Security Officer position (evening shift 4PM to Midnight) at Corteva Agriscience may be the perfect opportunity for you. At Corteva, you will be part of a team that is building the future of agriculture - solving the world's food problems through innovation, technology, and putting people first. Our security team is responsible to promote and provide a safe and secure environment for employees by physically protecting property and facilities. This is a hands-on physical job; we patrol property on foot as well as driving through campus in a company vehicle. Job tasks are rotated, so team members enjoy a variety of both desk work and patrolling responsibilities throughout each shift.

This role will be on-site at the Corteva location.

What You'll Do:

  • Investigate security and safety incidents (thefts, property damage, unsafe practices, etc.), prepare reports, and review information with Security Manager.

  • Provide security services when potential external or internal risks exist. Inform and coordinate with police as necessary.

  • Provide surveillance, physical protection assignments as needed.

  • Conduct building tours and check designated property to prevent vandalism, spot fires or other hazards, and control the access of unauthorized individuals.

  • Conduct facility and premise monitoring. Includes the following: assure doors/windows/vaults are locked and secure; quarterly test inspection and documentation; check to see that equipment is operating, monitor various building parameters, assure company assets are secure; monitor weather situations - ready to activate employee notification procedures; monthly building notification system inspection, report maintenance issues.

  • Provide and promote safety at all times. Attend, participate, and complete all required safety programs; e.g. Security Dept. training, quarterly FS&RE Safety programs, frequent driver, and learning & development.

  • Provide traffic control and other services for special events/functions as assigned.

  • Prepare written time log and accident/incident reports.

  • Respond to all campus emergency calls.

  • Report security system maintenance and repairs.

  • Various other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • You have your High School Diploma/GED.

What Skills You Need:

  • You are willing and able to work in different environments from extreme cold to extreme hot; walk long distances and be mobile for an eight-hour period. Move easily at a quick pace; move up and down stairs quickly, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, observe surroundings in dimly and brightly lit areas.

  • You are willing and able to obtain and maintain certification in first aid techniques including cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

  • You respect yourself and your team by always being punctual and reliable.

  • You are willing and able to successfully complete Corteva security training.

  • You have a valid US driver's license so you are able to drive a company vehicle to monitor property when needed.

  • You are highly engaged and always complete your work to the absolute best of your abilities.

  • You are willing and able to work weekends. While this position is primarily assigned to work the evening shift, you are open to opportunities in the future to move to other shifts based on business needs and employee preference. What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Previous security, military, law enforcement, EMS, and/or corrections experience.

  • Certifications and completed college courses or degrees related to law enforcement and security.
