Johnston Community School District Assistant Pool Manager in Johnston, Iowa

Position Summary: Assist with the daily operation and supervision of the indoor pool facility and programs offered through Community Education.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all patrons in and around the pool

  • Know and enforce pool rules and regulations

  • Understand and execute pool emergency procedure

  • Inspect facilities for cleanliness and safety, take action as necessary

  • Conduct and monitor assigned pool condition tests to ensure the safety of participants and proper pool function, communicating potential problems as they arise

  • Ensure that safety equipment is present and at each guard station

  • Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer basic first aid when necessary to stabilize victim until emergency medical service can respond

  • Supervise pool employees, manage attendance and timesheet reports, participant attendance, gate receipts, and other reports as required

  • Supervise lessons to ensure correct teaching methods are being applied

  • Ensure staff is uniformed with correct suit, carrying proper safety equipment

  • Record all accidents/injuries, ejections, employee absence or discipline, and other incidents on appropriate forms

  • Responsible for ensuring that all lifeguard and first aid equipment is checked and rescue ready each day

  • Prepare daily deposits and take money to night drop location

  • Attend all assigned meetings and in-services

  • Respond and handle all on-site complaints

  • Inspect and ensure pool facilities for cleanliness and report any maintenance problems

  • Supervise all special events as assigned

  • Perform other such duties and functions as are necessary or incidental to the proper performance of this position

Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years old

  • Must have high school diploma

  • Experience in the supervision of a pool facility preferred

  • Ability to supervise and direct employees

  • Water Safety instructor (WSI) certification preferred

  • Lifeguarding certification required

Schedule:

  • Evenings

  • Weekends

  • Holidays

  • Daytime (Summer)

  • Part-time, hours will vary

Pay Rate:

  • $16.00/hr

  • Increases with experience level
