JPMorgan Chase Tax Advisory Vice President - Information Reporting & Withholding in Jersey City, New Jersey

Seeking a personable tax professional/advisor with initiative, integrity, and experience in the financial industry, wishing to join one of the premier financial institutions in the country.

As a Vice President Tax Advisor within the Information Reporting & Withholding group, you will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting IRS regulations. You will also monitor new products for potential implications within our group, conduct research, and respond to inquiries from various business lines, primarily in the Consumer Banking sector, on matters related to Information Reporting & Withholding.

Job responsibilities

  • Review, analyze and interpret new IRS information reporting and withholding tax guidance (e.g., law, regulations, and rulings) and partner with designated lines of business to determine the impact of such guidance on their products and procedures

  • Monitor designated lines of businesses new products/transactions and ensure that they understands how the current Information Reporting & Withholding group rules should be applied

  • Meet with business and operations areas on a regular basis to ensure a continued understanding of the Information Reporting & Withholding requirements

  • Prepare and present trainings

  • Research and respond to internal day-to-day questions from lines of businesses (e.g., questions regarding tax documentation, client types, payment source and character, requirements related to complex transactions and structures, etc.)

  • Review and comment on language contained in the line of businesses new product approval documents to ensure IRW requirements are drafted correctly

  • Provide guidance to the lines of business on year-end tax reporting with respect to Forms 1099, 1098, 1042-S filings

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • 5+ years information reporting and withholding tax advisory experience.

  • Juris Doctor required

  • Clear and concise communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Ability to quickly grasp and explain complex business transactions/products

  • Ability to oversee multiple projects

  • Ability to synthesize complex regulations into terms easily understood by non-tax professionals

  • Ability to build positive relationships with the designated lines of business and Information Reporting & Withholding group team members

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Broad knowledge of financial products

  • Ability to work independently
