The anticipated salary range for this role is between $115,000.00 and $205,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

SMBC Capital Markets Inc. is hiring a software engineer in the Software Development department. The position is in support of risk management revaluation and reporting, trade analysis, PNL attribution and reconciliation, and product control IT systems.

Role Objectives

  • Responsible for participating in the technical design of all aspects of software solutions for the Capital Markets business. This includes both in-house and external applications.

  • This individual is usually on a team of mission critical projects and provides the technical expertise for development environment, technology architecture and implementation.

  • This individual will also work together with the business users and analysts to ensure the applications meet users' specification and requirements.

  • Furthermore, this role will interact with the larger development team, share design and solutions, and contribute to the overall objectives of the development team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10+ years of professional work experience involving software development and systems implementation.

  • Proficient in Python and Microsoft .Net/C#, with C/C++ programming languages as a plus

  • Familiarity with database concepts, relational SQL, No-SQL as a plus

  • Ability to design / architecture a software solution.

  • Previous experience in building enterprise quality software solutions in multi-technology environments and solid understanding of the impact of changes to the environments.

  • Ability to build a network of relationships across the organization, obtain a detailed understanding of internal clients’ needs and drive organization wide design concepts gaining buy in and support of stakeholders.

  • Experience with Fixed Income business and products

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office technologies such as: Excel, COM

  • Ability to operate in mathematical concepts, e.g. analysis, linear algebra, calculus, statistics and probability, as a plus.

  • Strong solid analytical skills for diagnosing and troubleshooting potential system issues.

  • Undergraduate or graduate preparation in computer science from a top-tier computer science program (or equivalent).
