About the Role

Reporting to the Chief of Quality Assurance and Unit Manger, the successful candidate supervises staff of Engineers, Architects and Inspectors (PA and Consultants) performing construction audit at all NY facilities. The successful candidate will also conduct daily inspection meetings with staff to review next day schedule to optimize coverage for all disciplines, including Fire Protection and Life Safety (FPLS) and Vertical Transportation (VT) systems before occupancy or use; Review audit reports to recommend time sensitive documents, including Temporary and final Permits to Occupy or Use; Audit construction records to confirm completion of all contractual items for PA contracts to recommend the issuance of Certificate of Completion; Conduct performance evaluation for direct reports to ensure employees goals are aligned with Departmental goals

Responsibilities

  • Supervising staff to audit construction inspections and testing of Fire Protection and Life Safety (FPLS) systems to confirm conformance with the approved design documents and applicable codes.

  • Ensuring new installation/construction is conforming to the approved design documents and applicable codes.

  • Following up non-conforming items to confirm satisfactory compliance and disposition.

  • Reviewing closing construction documents, including all applicable Certifications and Special Inspections Checklists for compliance.

  • Recommending the issuance of Temporary and final Permits to Occupy or Use for all projects.

  • Confirming completion of contractual items for every PA contract prior to recommending the issuance of Certificates of Completion.

  • Evaluating performance objectives to provide constructive comments and feedback on the results achieved over the review periods

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Architecture

  • Supervisory experience responsible for auditing inspections and testing of Fire Protection and Life Safety systems

  • Working knowledge of applicable codes.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and maintain effective working relationship with colleagues and managers.

  • Demonstrated ability to reach sound judgment effectively.

  • Valid Driver’s license

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering and/or Registered Architect License in NY & NJ

  • Master of Science in Engineering or Architecture
