Ashtabula County Building Department Administrative Assistant in Jefferson, Ohio

Ashtabula County Building Department is seeking an Administrative Assistant.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision of the Office Manager, the Administrative Assistant will:

  • Provide administrative and clerical support to Office Manager. 
  • Assists in answering phones and directing calls.
  • Works closely with and provides information to the public, county officials and other persons by face-to-face interaction, through email correspondences and via telephone.
  • Prepares and distributes complex, detailed, confidential or routine correspondences. 
  • Processes payments, accounts payable, and refundable deposits; calculates daily financial reports and processes pay-ins.
  • Issues permits (commercial and residential) processes Agricultural Exemptions and communicates with the County Auditors Real Estate Division. 
  • Generates Firmette Maps, processes intake of Residential/Commercials Certificate of Occupancies
  • Performs other clerical duties as required/assigned. 

*QUALIFICATIONS: *Completion of secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED), one (1) year of training or experience related to county government operations or administrative and clerical support; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be proficient with computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other applicable computer software. Experience with CityForce helpful but not required.

*LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: *Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy. May be required to obtain other certifications issued by the Ohio Board of Building Standards.
