Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson City Youth Development Professional in Jefferson City, Missouri

Be a role model, mentor and youth development leader. Boys and Girls Club is looking for individuals to lead a group of children during the after school program. Youth Development Professionals ensure children are safe, well supervised and are having fun all while delivering academic and enrichment curriculum which is provided.

PAY RATE:$12.50-$15/hour

REQUIREMENTS:Must be 18. 1-2 years of experience taking care of children and/or camp counselor experience preferred. Positions are available at different site locations most starting between 2:30 - 3:00 p.m. and ending between 6 - 7:00 p.m.). Some sites require reliable transportation. All sites require staff to work Monday through Friday.

Youth Development Professional Expectations

Youth Development Professionals (YDP) are expected to provide supervision, instruction, and mentoring moments to our Club members each day. We require staff with maturity and the ability to remain calm in sometimes chaotic conditions while dealing with members who sometimes have more exuberance than self-control. In addition, YDPs are expected to modelgood character(remaining calm, speaking respectfully),good citizenship(leaving your workspace clean, assisting others) anda respect for academic achievement(reading with and to members, assisting with school homework, speaking Standard English while with the members).

Social Emotional Learning Interventionist

The SEL Interventionist will work directly with the Director of SEL and Trauma Informed Practice in affecting positive social, emotional, and behavioral changes in members, supporting and coaching staff to improve overall behavior proficiency, providing supportive interventions to families, and working with the Site Coordinator to develop and maintain a continuum for members, staff, and families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with members to implement interventions and strategies to promote positive social, emotional, and behavioral changes in members.
  • Provide coaching to staff to support the implementation and fidelity of effective behavioral support and interventions.
  • Assist in developing interventions, behavioral strategies for the purpose of providing a safe and effective environment for members.
  • Conduct periodic workshops, training, and in-service for classroom management techniques and other topics for the purpose of developing effective classroom management to support members.
  • Engage in professional development to increase knowledge and skills of positive student behavior and emotional support for all members.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in education, counseling, social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
  • At least three years of successful experience working with students, including those with behavioral issues or considered at-risk for academic success.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and techniques.

SALARY:Part-time position to work 2-4 hours a day between the hours of 3:00-6:00 p.m. following the Jefferson City School District school year. Rate of pay will be $22 an hour.
