Unilever Senior Quality Manager, LIQUID I.V. in Jefferson City, Missouri

Background & Purpose of the Job:

Position reports to the Health & Wellbeing Head of Regulatory & Quality Assurance, works directly with the site factory director and manages a team of quality employees. This role has overall responsibility for managing product safety and quality for the food/dietary supplement facility including regulatory compliance, food safety plan development/execution, Unilever Health & Wellbeing policies & standards, and facility continuous improvement efforts.

The Sr. Quality Manager works as a core member of the site Leadership Team and with site Supply Chain team to manage site quality performance and develop local quality strategy in order to achieve World Class Manufacturing (WCM) performance as measured by our core Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

What You’ll Do:

Principal Accountabilities:

Essential Job Function/Duties:

  • Establish, lead, and deliver Quality systems for the site, especially the food safety program, change management, and CAPA processes.

  • Hire, train, and manage the Quality team resources necessary to implement the site quality strategy. Develop and implement quality SOPs. Establish a quality learning framework to develop quality skills. Use the Unilever quality improvement process and toolkit as applicable.

  • Provides leadership to drive Quality culture through visibility and coaching of cross-functional teams.

  • Act as the subject matter expert on decisions related to quality processes, using expertise and leadership to resolve quality issues.

  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are in place at all times; set example, and champion Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) initiatives.

  • Ensure all products meet or surpass defined quality and regulatory standards (21 CFR 111 & 117), including international requirements to support international expansion.

  • Build scorecards and reports for Quality KPIs, analyzing data, and drawing insights to drive continuous improvement to WCM.

  • Responsible for maintaining the food safety plans and other site certifications (i.e, NSF, Non-GMO project, Gluten-free, etc.). Oversee internal audit program and support external audits.

  • Provide technical information and guidance relating to product inquiries, investigations, and complaint management.

  • Lead the site Quality Incident Management process (including recalls) using project management approaches, contacting experts (SEAC), providing guidance on action resolution, reporting status through closure, and implementing lessons learned.

  • Oversee product testing and product release programs including tests performed at on-site quality laboratory and by third party contract laboratory.

  • Oversee site environmental monitoring program and manage microbiological concerns.

  • Participate as part of site leadership team.

  • Collaborate with site departments on quality awareness and training.

  • Participate in obtaining, maintaining, and using insights from external benchmarks, assessment tools, standards, and knowledge about what other organizations are doing to manage Quality.

  • Responsible for other projects and duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical or general science (e.g., Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, etc.).

  • Must have a minimum of 7 years of quality experience. Experience in a food/supplement manufacturing facility is required.

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing facility.

  • Must have knowledge of GMPs in an FDA-regulated field (drugs, supplements, food).

  • Ability to work with people from differing backgrounds collaboratively is required.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence others through a matrixed environment is required.

  • Must have the ability to manage project and project teams from inception to completion including hitting deadlines and documenting progress.

  • Strong analytical/technical thought process and investigational skills.

  • Preferred to have additional training/experience in auditing, food safety plans, FSVP, WCM, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and/or Loss Tree analysis.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $113,400 to 170,200. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
