Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a Senior Specialist - Civil (Waterproofing) to play a pivotal role in the construction of an Oceanarium, ensuring that all civil structures are meticulously waterproofed to withstand the unique challenges of housing marine life. The Senior Specialist will collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to implement innovative waterproofing solutions that meet stringent quality standards while adhering to project timelines.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive waterproofing strategies for various civil structures within the Oceanarium, including tanks, pools, and underwater viewing areas.

  • Conduct thorough site inspections and assessments to identify potential waterproofing challenges and develop effective mitigation plans.

  • Work closely with design teams to integrate waterproofing requirements into architectural and structural plans, ensuring seamless coordination between disciplines.

  • Select appropriate waterproofing materials and systems based on project specifications, environmental factors, and performance requirements.

  • Oversee the installation of waterproofing systems, providing technical guidance to construction teams and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

  • Conduct quality assurance checks and performance tests on completed waterproofing installations to verify integrity and durability.

  • Collaborate with project managers to monitor progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain project schedule and budget.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field;

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on waterproofing for large-scale construction projects; experience in aquatic or marine industry is an asset.

  • Extensive knowledge of waterproofing materials, techniques, and systems, including membrane systems, coatings, and sealants.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing waterproofing projects from concept to completion, with a strong emphasis on quality control and risk management.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering design tools.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
