United Alloy, Inc. Manufacturing Cost Engineer in Janesville, Wisconsin

REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, the Cost Engineer will serve as the liaison between Sales, Engineering, & Estimating by designing and preparing project cost estimates and pricing for product applications requested by customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare cost estimates for sheet metal parts and weldments for new and existing customers, and assessing manufacturability/make recommendations to customers.

  • Often working directly with the customer; has the ability to solve mechanical design challenges and problems by developing robust, functional and effective solutions

  • Create cost models in ERP systems and in Excel.

  • Creates 3D designs in CAD and sets up BOMS in ERP system

  • Report cost estimates to Sales management for pricing review, audits actual costs versus estimated, and prepare final quotations for issuance.

  • Provide accurate quotes on a timely basis, as needed.

  • Maintain all quote documentation with accurate pricing and configurations.

  • Provides design related support as needed

  • Communicate any issues to peers or customers

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical or Business-related Associate’s degree preferred

  • Technical knowledge of fabrication/manufacturing practices to include sheet metal processes, welding processes, and powder coat application.

  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, weld symbols, and bill of materials.

  • Ability to recognize cost reduction opportunities.

  • Ability to recognize tool and fixture requirements and create estimates accordingly.

  • Possesses excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) to establish and maintain positive working relationships with team members as well as internal and external customers.

  • Sound CAD (2D & 3D) design and checking procedures experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
