Queens Community House Program Assistant - OAC in Jamaica Older Adult Center, New York

Status: Full-Time

Compensation: Exempt: $16 - $18 hourly

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 35 hours/week

Location: Jamaica, NY

About the Jamaica Older Adult Center (OAC):

The Jamaica Older Adult Center serves the older adult population in the Jamaica area of Queens. We are seeking a dedicated Program Assistant (PA) with a strong commitment to social services and older adults to join our team. The ideal candidate will also have an interest in outreach initiatives aimed at increasing participation in our programs.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Clerical Duties

  • Greet and assist participants and guests both in person and over the phone.

  • Create and distribute flyers for program activities.

  • Manage membership registration for older adult participants.

  • Maintain accurate records of program activities and participant information.

B. Data Entry

  • Input daily program activity units into STARS/Peer Place.

  • Ensure accurate matching of daily activity logs with units in STARS/Peer Place.

  • Prepare and submit monthly reports of activity units and daily activity sheets.

  • Collaborate with the Database Manager to maintain participant files and program information.

C. Program Support

  • Assist with setting up and breaking down meal spaces and program activities.

  • Participate in outreach activities to promote OAC participation.

D. Professional Development

  • Adhere to agency-wide performance standards.

  • Attend trainings as required by supervisor.

  • Contribute to the development of annual training plans and program evaluations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of administrative or customer service experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to relate to older adults with patience and flexibility.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database management/search tools.

  • Bilingual proficiency in Bengali and/or Spanish preferred.

  • High school diploma or GED.
