WestRock Company Transportation Manager in Jacksonville, Florida

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Transportation Manager to oversee our hauling department's operations. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the transportation team.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage a team of 25 full-time employees and temporary contracted CDL drivers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive safety program in compliance with Federal, State, and Company regulations, focusing on continuous improvement.

  • Ensure strict adherence to DOT regulations, including driver hours of service, vehicle inspections, and maintenance records.

  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and implement corrective action.

  • Coordinate daily work schedules and shipment routes to optimize efficiency and meet customer service requirements.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize transportation routes, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.

  • Manage costs and adhere to annual budgets while ensuring timely and efficient movement of materials.

  • Maintain records of driver activities, DOT compliance, customer requests, and services provided.

  • Conduct regular maintenance inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Facilitate new hire orientation, testing, and ongoing training for all hauling department employees.

  • Collaborate with management on the hiring process for new drivers, ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in transportation operations, with a strong focus on safety and leadership.

  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Commitment to safety and adherence to DOT regulations.

  • Previous experience in the trucking industry and knowledge of GA/FL routes preferred.
