Pay Range: $75000 - $78000 / year

Position Summary

The Shop Manager supervises, coordinates, and performs the maintenance and repair of equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s specification, company standards and safety standards.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

• Supervises and assigns work to subordinates engaged in the repair, maintenance, and servicing of equipment.

• Plans and organizes shop work activities and personnel according to changing demands and priorities.

• Determines and documents repair schedules.

• Provides estimates of materials, costs, and timelines for service and repair activities.

• Purchases necessary parts and supplies to accomplish repairs.

• Schedule’s work, establishes deadlines, and modifies work schedules to meet deadlines.

• Makes initial inspections in difficult cases and diagnoses malfunctions.

• Inspects work in progress and upon completion.

• Provides technical assistance or advice to subordinates in difficult and unusual problems.

• Inspects shop facilities to determine proper utilization and maintenance and adherence to safety regulations.

• Performs skilled mechanical work in the repair and overhaul of equipment.

• Travels to field project locations to provide technical maintenance and support.

• Monitor’s equipment and vehicles leaving or returning to base.

• Trains and manages workers.

• Performs a variety of administrative tasks.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the skilled mechanical repair of construction equipment.

• A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

• Ability to read and understand procedural instructions and manuals.

• Ability to keep records and to prepare work and time reports.

• Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.

• Ability to supervise the work of others and clearly communicate instructions.

• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

• Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Works both indoors and outdoors.

• Frequently walks, stands, stoops, bends, kneels, and reaches.

• Lifts and carries heavy equipment and parts.

• Uses hands to operate equipment and tools involved in repairs.

• Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.

• Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.

• May be exposed to harsh weather conditions.

• May be exposed to loud noise.
