Job Summary and Qualifications

Occupational Therapist is a registered therapist who, under general supervision, is responsible for therapeutic management of a specific caseload of patients from evaluation to treatment planning and implementation.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Reviews patient history and interprets physician referral.

• Evaluates patient's occupational performance using both objective and subjective techniques, according to department policy and procedures.

• Develops and adjusts on an ongoing basis a treatment program based on patient/family needs, goals, strengths, age, abilities, and preferences. Consults with physicians, other rehabilitation team members, patient and family to design a coordinated treatment plan.

• Performs patient treatment through the use of appropriate occupational therapy interventions.

• Re-evaluates patient's physical, cognitive and psychosocial status, in addition to environmental factors, to modify/terminate the treatment program as appropriate.

• Maintains active and supportive communication with patients and others concerned regarding progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related to the therapeutic process.

• Maintains a focus on patients by anticipating and responding to patient needs, and by taking steps to ensure patient satisfaction.

• Promotes cohesiveness of work groups by supporting and contributing to the efforts of others within the work groups.

• Attempts to work through and resolve conflicts with all patients.

• Reacts positively to change, unexpected disruptions in routines and job duties, constructive feedback, and requests from supervisor.

• Takes ownership of job duties and maintains professional competency

• Assumes responsibilities as delegated by Supervisor.

• Adjusts interaction with all patients based on individual needs, developmental level and ability to understand.

• Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.

• Maintains a clean and safe environment; identifies and reports hazards.

• Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

• Complies with professional, regulatory, ethical, and legal standards.

EDUCATION:

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of occupational therapy.

EXPERIENCE:

• Three or more years of experience desired.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

• Current Occupational Therapist license in State of practice required

• Must be a certified hand therapist for specialty practice based role as per practice based requirements
