THE ROLE: The Driver w/CDL will be responsible for the safe operation of a DOT regulated vehicle. You will transport materials/equipment from point A to point B. Daily travel territory encompasses Jacksonville, Savannah and Valdosta; no overnights. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES : To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Identify all items to be delivered or picked up with customer to ensure completeness and accuracy. Perform visual inspection of equipment being picked up and note any damage. Obtain customer’s signature on appropriate paperwork.

  • Utilize motorized equipment handling machinery to safely load equipment on and off trucks and trailers.

  • Secure all items loaded on the truck for safe over-the-road travel in accordance with Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Department of Transportation and local Department of Transportation guidelines.

  • Assist in securing load utilizing straps and chains.

  • Ensure yard and loading areas are clear of debris and trash; accessories and equipment are organized and easy to access.

  • Follow all safety processes and procedures and maintain a ‘Safety First’ approach when completing daily work tasks. Complete a Job Safety Assessment before beginning any job on a customer site. Ensure compliance with all Personal Protective Equipment requirements.

  • Must be able to function in a team environment

  • Usually works with minimal supervision, works independently

  • Create and maintain safe working environment and culture within the organization

  • Take care of company property

Travel Requirements:

• 80%-90% travel depending on division & location (mix of local and longer distance - no overnight stays)

Driving Requirements:

• Driver Application for Employment Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)

• Forms:

  • Driver Disclosure and Release

  • Employee Applicant Drug and Alcohol Statement

  • FMCSA Certificate of Awareness

  • Driver Certificate of Violations

  • Driver Statement of on Duty Hours Road Test o Copy of Driver’s License

  • Copy of Medical Certificate

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • HS diploma or equivalent

  • CDL required, class A or B. Hazmat endorsement preferred

  • Ability to obtain all required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.)

  • Ability to obtain DOT Medical card

  • Clean driving record

  • Experience with flatbed trailers and proper load securement techniques (chaining, strapping, etc.)

  • 0 to 2 years of technical work experience; 1 year preferred.

  • One to two years’ experience in the construction industry preferred.

  • Ability to drive difficult routes.

  • Ability to understand weight requirements / weight distribution.

DAY IN THE LIFE :

In this role, the working environment is a shop/manufacturing environment subject to all weather conditions, shop noise, and fumes within OSHA standards and machinery with moving parts. The physical demands may include but not limited to bending, squatting, stooping, twisting, kneeling, climbing, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. This role requires extended hours as needed (weekends, overtime, and on-call rotations) and travel to fulfill duties listed above.

SALARY :

The estimated salary range for this position is $21/Hr. to $28/Hr. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
