This Position is for a Federal DoD System Technologist (USA Remote + Travel) with a company located in Jackson.

 

Job Summary: This position Act as Lead System Technologist (ST) on projects or system upgrades, capable of directing self and other assigned project STs and able to mentor less experienced STs. This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers. Travel Requirements Over 75%.

 

Responsibilities and Duties: Act as Lead System Technologist (ST) on projects or system upgrades, capable of directing self and other assigned project STs and able to mentor less experienced STs. Post-sale implementation of voice and data communications systems. Provide technical support on specialized telecommunications systems and public safety product applications for the Federal DoD. Performs specific system configuration, programming, optimization, testing, and documentation tasks. Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure. Maintain, optimize, test, support and document complex mission critical communications systems. Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with a focus on trend analysis and documentation of results. Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments. Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues. Total familiarity and continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques. Team with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations. Work with other System Technologists, Tech Support, Product Groups, and/or others to characterize system defects during system implementation and, on occasion, during the maintenance phase. Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshoot to resolve system/application related issues. Solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations. 

 

Education and Qualifications: Very strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN). Proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges. Experience with R.F. interfaces and systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks. Knowledge in standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques. Strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with Motorola's customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service teams. Experience with logging recording systems,  RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems, and networking equipment Excellent communications skills and always present a professional image.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate high-level systems experience and have a minimum of 6 years of related experience with the following equipment: Motorola Base Stations (GTR series, Desktop, etc.). Dispatch Consoles (MCC7500, MCC7500E. T1 Circuits and MPLS Circuits. Computer IP Networks and Configuration. Experience working with RF infrastructure technologies to include Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, console systems, ASTRO conventional, trunke equipment, and simulcast systems. The ideal candidate must have excellent skills in the use of various communications test equipment including: Communication System Analyzers, Ethernet Link test sets, T1 Test Sets, TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement Set), Digital RF Power Meter, Motorola Conventional, SmartNet, MCC Console systems, Secure Operations and ASTRO A7.x - A20.x, Digital systems and installation procedures. 

Candidate Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract. Must possess a current and valid driver's license, no traffic violations, and have a clean driving record. 2 year Associates in Electronics or IT preferred. Unique combinations of both multi-site RF communications systems and/or computer/networking skills are preferred. Must be willing to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Must be willing to obtain a DHS Public Trust Clearance. CompTIA Security+ or must be able to obtain it within the 1st year of employment.

Basic Requirements: High School Diploma/GED AND 2+ years experience in one of the following: LMR, RF systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Military, Motorola products or Networking equipment. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position. Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
