Apicha Community Health Center MEDICAL ASSISTANT in Jackson Heights, New York

Our mission at Apicha Community Health Center is to is to provide high-quality, equitable, whole person, and culturally responsive care delivered in an inclusive and welcoming manner, building and expanding on its long tradition of care for AAPIs, LGBTQ+, and persons living with HIV.

We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant to work at our Jackson Heights location

Position Summary: The Medical Assistant will be responsible to ensure the highest quality of patient care. Assistance in the clinical care of patients will include performing biopsies, pap smears, HRA, phlebotomy, EKGs, etc. This individual will consult with medical providers at the beginning of each session and/or at a daily meeting to ensure optimum patient flow.

Qualifications: Qualified applicants will have at minimum a High School diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, Associate’s degree preferred. One year of full-time work experience preferred; possession of a current basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS CPR) certificate, ability to work independently and in a team; Experience in working with people living with HIV/AIDS is preferred, ability to speak Spanish or one of the Asian language is strongly preferred; Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a multicultural setting required; knowledge of eClinicalWorks EMR is preferred; ability to work flexible hours including evening and weekends; basic knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office, referral database
