At the Lindsey State Jail in Jacksboro, Texas , our foundation is based upon the philosophies of caring about others, giving back, and making a social impact. We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping an at-risk population receive the treatment necessary for success on their road back to a healthy, productive life.

Essential Duties:

  1. Serves as the unit classification committee chairperson; schedules appropriate unit personnel to participate in committee; monitors the committee documentation to ensure in is within policy; schedules offenders to appear before the committee for assignment of appropriate custody levels, housing and work assignment, protection, and safekeeping.

  2. Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance, recommend and implement department and personnel changes as approved by the assistant warden, and coordinate with the human resources supervisor prior to implementation.

  3. Ensure facility does not exceed its capacity.

  4. Review housing and job assignments or changes in relation to medical restrictions or security needs including Security Threat Group (STG) of the offender.

  5. Maintain up-to-date and accurate reports for submission in a timely manner as required.

  6. Review that unit orientation is completed and all required contents are addressed within the required timeframe.

  7. Ensure the Heat Restriction Roster is printed daily and given to security. Ensure all staff have read and are familiar with the directive.

  8. Oversee changes to offender visitation list.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a college or university accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred. Each year of experience as described below more than the required three (3) years may be substituted for thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.

  • Three (3) years full-time, wage- earning correctional custody, law enforcement, offender case management, or correctional unit operations experience.

  • One (1) year full-time, wage-earning Offender classification experience required.

  • A valid drivers license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

  • Must successfully complete annual, TDCJ approved background checks and in-service training requirements.
