GE Aerospace Lead Engineer - Preliminary Mechanical Design - Hybrid in Istanbul, Turkey

Job Description Summary

GE Aerospace is offering the opportunity to work with the latest technologies and applications, specializing in aircraft engine design and analysis, in a technology base. Turkey Technology Center (TTC) in Kartal/Istanbul is one of GE Aerospace's nine engineering centers across the world, supporting aviation-related R&D and innovation projects that expand with new investments.

Design Engineer will be a part of the Preliminary Design team working to develop innovative design concepts on next-generation engine products like RISE Open Fan; that includes performing propulsion system architecture design, engine x-section generation & maturation, technology feasibility and design space/packaging studies.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Execute the preliminary mechanical design studies

  • Work closely with Advanced Systems organization to support engine architecture selection/maturation adhering to business standards, practices, procedures and product/program requirements

  • Work efficiently with other preliminary design disciplines (cycle, performance, …), support feasibility studies

  • Right size design efforts via working closely with CEO to meet tight deadlines while satisfying key requirements

  • Contribute and adhere to daily management routine, standard work activities and work aligned with KPIs

  • Document lessons learned and ensure continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • BSc or MSc degrees in Aerospace/Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering departments from an accredited college or university

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design/engineering positions

  • Experience and/or strong knowledge in mechanical, gas turbine or propulsion design fundamentals

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated skills in utilizing multiple engineering tools, UG NX etc.

  • Strong cross-functional teaming, coordination and communication skills

  • Highly motivated, self-starter who is passionate about inventing the next generation of aviation technology

  • Demonstrated accountability, ownership skills and diligence in meeting commitments within tight and fluctuation schedules

  • Ability to work with multiple global organizations and program leaders collaboratively
