Summary:

Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Inc. (CED), one of the country's largest and fastest-growing wholesale electrical distribution companies, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Tax Senior to join its corporate income tax group. This position offers the unique opportunity to take on a senior supervisory-level role with the potential for rapid advancement to a managerial position and taking on a leadership role within the tax department. The successful candidate will play a large role in overseeing and optimizing the corporate tax functions and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Reports to: Tax Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a related field

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate income tax with a focus on compliance

  • Intermediate/advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be willing to work some weekends and evenings as required to meet reporting deadlines

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Tax or Business Administration

  • CPA certification or CPA eligible

  • Proficiency in Thomson Reuters OneSource Income Tax software

Essential Job Functions:

The job functions include a broad variety of tax matters including, but not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local income returns for the company and other affiliated entities.

  • Assist with income tax provision compliance & financial statements audit to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

  • Prepare and review state modification and apportionment schedules.

  • Maintain tax basis depreciation records and intangible asset schedules.

  • Prepare and review quarterly tax estimates and year-end projections.

  • Analyze and reconcile various tax-related general ledger accounts: deferred tax balances, income tax expense, and Federal and state tax payable accounts.

  • Manage and assist with Federal, state income & franchise tax audits.

  • Manage state tax controversy matters including notices and adjustments.

  • Coordinate, prepare, and oversee annual reports filings.

  • Research and maintain a working knowledge of state income/franchise tax developments.

  • Maintain federal, state, and local tax calendar.

  • Collaborate with other departments within the organization and provide assistance as needed.

  • Manage relationships with external tax consultants and provide guidance on the implementation of various tax planning strategies.
