We are seeking a PRN Endoscopy / GI RN for our Resource Float Pool to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. As part of the Elite Endoscopy / GI Nursing Float Pool , the RN is responsible for assessing the operative nursing care needs of patients, planning interventions and evaluating outcomes of care. The RN is responsible for providing care, which is appropriate for age specific (pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics), the developmental and safety needs, the planned procedure, and the anesthetic agent used. The RN will communicate and educate the patient and/or their family members and/or significant others regarding events pertinent to their care. The RN also anticipates and plans for the needs of the surgical team and coordinates the care provided in the endoscopy room while maintaining an aseptic and safe environment.

Education / License / Certifications:

  • ADN required, BSN preferred, required within 24 months of hire

  • Current Texas RN License

  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required

  • Professional Nursing Organization Membership strongly encouraged.

  • Certification in area of specialty preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 18 months experience within an acute care hospital, with a minimum one year in procedural Endoscopy.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse delivers professional nursing care to all patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) providing holistic, individualized patient care in response to emergent, identified needs. Follows the Board of Nursing’s (BON) Standards of Nursing Practice utilizing the nursing process in care delivery. Maintains accountability for professional decisions and actions within the parameters of their legal scope of practice and in accordance with Emergency Nurse Association (ENA) standards; the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of Medical City Healthcare (MCH).What You Will Do In This Role

  • Responsible for delivery of professional nursing care for assigned patients.

  • Performs nursing assessment/diagnosis/care plan/implementation of treatment/evaluation of treatment for all assigned patients.

  • If indicated, performs initial triage evaluation and assigns acuity level to patients.

  • Administers treatments/medications/procedures within scope of practice.

  • Participates in coordination of care with ED management staff, team leader, physicians, department staff and ancillary services.

  • Responsible for delegation of duties to technical support staff maintaining accountability of delegation.

  • Provides patient care as needed for patient types, which include but are not limited to neurological disorders, oncologic, cardiac services, orthopedic disorders, and Trauma.

  • Authorized to access secure drug and biological storage areas when completing a medication management orientation and when necessary to perform assigned duties.

  • Will document a formal assessment on all patients presenting to the department utilizing the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Triage Tool; 5 levels—level 1 (most urgent) to level 5 (least urgent).

  • Use critical thinking approach to analyze clinical data and current literature as a basis for decision making in nursing practice.

  • Integrate the management of information and effective communication skills in daily practice.

  • Serve as a healthcare advocate in monitoring and promoting safe, quality healthcare and services for the patients served.

  • Attends staff meetings, in-services, facility town hall meetings.

  • Timely completion of all assigned educational assignments.

  • Seeks out opportunities to further enhance nursing education, skills, and knowledge.
