Summary:

Consolidated Electrical Distributors Inc. (CED) is one of the largest electrical solutions and product suppliers in the country. We are seeking a Field Services Specialist for CED’s Field Services team located in Irving and Waco, TX. The IT Field Services team is responsible for providing remote IT managed services and on-site IT support for CED’s 700+ locations. Successful candidates will have strong organizational and communication skills. Candidates must have previous experience supporting and maintaining IT networks, desktop and mobile devices, and Microsoft desktop technologies.

The position will work under the direction of the IT Field Services Manager to provide proactive, reactive, and special project services to support the IT infrastructure needs of these locations. This position requires occasional travel, after hours, and weekend work. CED is focused on finding the best talent as we continue to grow and build upon the success that was started in 1957

Reports to: IT Field Services Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing desktop computers, printers, and software.

  • Experience with providing desktop and email support via phone, email, and/or chat.

  • 1+ years of experience in various IT networking operations. Disciplines include Active Directory, LAN administration, DNS, and server administration.

  • Ability to physically lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, and sit for long periods of time.

  • Proficiency to read, write, and communicate orally the English language, especially I.T. technical terms and concepts.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to travel for long periods of time using automobiles and public aircrafts.

  • Ability to travel away from home over weekends and after hours (approximately 10% of the time).

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Passion for providing exceptional customer service.

  • Social skills and confidence to interact with a wide range of people from clerical staff, network specialists, developers, senior management, and vendors.

  • Ability to organize multiple work tasks and prioritize them to meet specific deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

  • Must possess ability to multi-task.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience in supporting VMs on a VMWare Infrastructure.

  • Experience with utilizing support ticketing systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment, with approximately 10% travel required. Requires occasional after-hours and weekend work.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide remote and onsite technical desktop and Local Area Network support to CED’s employees.

  • Perform remote and onsite support for store startups, acquisitions, and other conversion activities.

  • Provide testing and evaluation of computer equipment and commercial desktop software.

  • Troubleshoot and repair computer workstations, servers, and networking equipment.

  • Assist in testing and evaluation of IT hardware and software applications.
