Job Description

Job Summary

The Deficiency Accounts Specialist will be responsible for recovering deficiency loan balances from non-collateral accounts that were previously involved in a total loss. This position will work with customers to negotiate payments or settlements, and find other solutions to satisfy deficiencies to minimize losses to the company. This role requires independent judgment and typically has limited supervision. Knowledge of all areas in Collections & Loss Mitigation is generally expected.

Job Duties

  • Initiates contact with customers to negotiate payment arrangements in order to satisfy any deficiency balances. Offers or recommends settlements, if warranted. Maintains losses at or below established guidelines for assigned job duties.

  • Submits to manager any accounts that are eligible for a write-off once all payments and settlements have been applied.

  • Reviews and monitors non-collateral accounts on a daily basis, and properly and accurately documents all account activities.

  • Maintains losses at or below established guidelines for assigned job duties.

  • Makes recommendations to management of process and policy gaps.

  • May assist other related departments as required by business needs.

Education and Work Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • 2 - 3 years of work related experience.

  • College degree preferred.

  • Experience in the finance or credit industry preferred.

  • 2 years of administrative support experience preferred.
