Job Information
Actalent Structural Engineer in Irvine, California
Structural Engineer
Job Description
As a Structural Engineer, you will work within actual buildings, including multi-story structures. Your primary responsibilities will involve hands-on engineering and modeling, with a preference for experience in ETABS (although we will consider other modeling software). While you’ll occasionally review drawings, your main focus will be on engineering production, including actual design and planning.
Under the supervision of an experienced engineer or engineering manager, you’ll perform detailed engineering reviews of plans to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and contract commitments. You’ll tackle conventional engineering practices, but also handle moderately complex problems such as resolving conflicting design requirements, material standards, or coordinating activities across disciplines.
Your role will include drafting technically accurate and timely reports, responding to client letters and faxes, and preparing weekly reports and billing. Effective communication within the team is crucial to meet client needs. You may propose technical advice, recommend new approaches, and work directly with clients to resolve technical issues. As you gain experience, you’ll have the autonomy to work independently with minimal supervision.
