Golden State Foods Corporate Transportation Manager in Irvine, California

Overview

JOB SUMMARY: Manages corporate approaches and strategies for strategic sourcing, supplier development, and value add transportation management, ensuring sustainable cost savings, strong supplier relations, and an overall competitive advantage for GSF.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Daily audit of shipments in TMS from prior day, checking for tender acceptance from carrier, origin/destination accuracy, contract rate compliance, and proactive disruption management (follow up on shipments not picked up). (15%)

  • Build out LTL strategy that may include utilizing internal warehouse network for inbound injection, carrier network, and RFP of lanes. This will be completed with close support from your manager. (20%)

  • Complete RFPs for LPNA inbound truckload, KPUS inbound (TL +LTL), Protein outbound and LPNA outbound. (15%)

  • Communicate with carrier partners to close gaps around carrier-owned missed. Develop KPIs to track performance. Conduct QBRs with top 5 partners. (10%)

  • Onboard new partners, as needed, while communicating with account payable, master data, and supply chain. Prioritize divers partners as part of the overall business goal of increasing diverse vendors’ representation at GSF. (10%)

  • Complete adhoc support for site-level transportation/warehousing needs through option research all the way to RFP completion and contract execution. (10%)

  • Develop any required training documents to be utilized by plant material planners. (5%)

  • Dig into D365 MRP software to expand its transportation capabilities and become the organization SME for applications around routing, modality, and rate-shopping. (5%)

  • Report savings performance to plant leadership and create transportation business reviews. (5%)

  • Execute tactical steps assigned from the Transportation playbook, and other duties assigned. (5%)

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or economic, from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in transportation or logistics.

  • Experience with transportation management systems.

  • Data analytical skills, strategic thinking, change management and ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization.

  • Communicate with clarity and effective collaboration capability.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and issues with an attention to accuracy and detail while meeting deadlines.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Purchasing and inventory indicators (days on hand, inventory turns, cost of inventory, ABCs, etc.) (J)
