Sharp Electronics Corporation Associate Manager, Logistics in Irvine, California

Overview

This position will provide logistics support and guidance for Dynabook Americas (DBA). Monitor and track performance for both Air and Sea carriers to ensure a smooth operation and timely and reliable delivery as required by Dynabook’s customers. In addition, this position will work with carriers to analyze methods for cost reduction, analyze carrier delivery performance, and will analyze and implement alternate transportation solutions in an effort to maximize the available transportation solutions and to provide a cost effective transportation model. This position will interface with Dynabook Americas Management to provide efficient transportation cost models. This position is based at Dynabook Americas Irvine, California office location.

Responsibilities

  • Development of cost-effective methods for shipping freight, creating effective shipping solutions to support customer delivery requirements, and managing all aspects of Dynabook Americas Logistics.

  • Support Dynabook Americas Import/Export compliance requirements. Ensure all shipping solutions meet all Import/Export compliance requirements.

  • Provide insight into Transportation rate tariffs, volumes, and trends to management for contract negotiations. This includes freight and parcel agreements/contracts with Dynabook Americas carriers. Utilize this ability to reduce transportation costs and recommend alternate transportation solutions in an effort to provide a cost-effective transportation model.

  • Assist in negotiating warehousing and transportation support contracts. Ensure all contracts and POA’s are current at any time.

  • Act as a Project Manager to manage multiple projects for the implementation of new or improved shipping solutions, new factories, new Dynabook Americas business units, improved packaging solutions, and new cost model enhancements.

  • Understanding and support import/export compliance for international shipments. Ensure commercial documents are updated with the most accurate information. Provide an understanding of international incoterms to support all aspects of the business.

  • Coordinate Domestic Transportation shipments and develop the knowledge to understand pallet and parcel shipping support and methods for all shipping business units.

  • Manage and or support the carrier billing and payment processes to support carrier billing/payment, Accounts Payable, and the 3rd party billing and payment process at JUSDA. Provide the Finance team with freight invoicing support for their month-end reconciliation process. Provide the Finance Team with monthly claims reporting.

  • Provide the ability to manage and or support the carrier claims for damage and losses and have an understanding of the Insurance company submittal of Claims for Dynabook Americas re-imbursement.

  • Create cost models to support new business projects in support of business growth. In addition, provide the ability on an as required basis, to forecast carrier cost models to support contribution margin cost forecasting.

  • Monitor programs to work with carriers to meet Dynabook Americas performance criteria metrics with the carriers report structure. Analyze carrier delivery performance data on a regular basis to ensure carriers are delivering per transit time and per customer Requested Delivery Dates.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in logistics, business administration, supply chain management, or a related field

  • 3-5 years previous experience in logistics

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Results-driven individual who is proficient in creating and monitoring cost-reduction initiatives.

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment that requires quick thinking and effective multitasking

Compensation for this position

The compensation range for this role is $55,875-$103,200. The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
