PALMETTO CITIZENS FED CREDIT UNION (4040) Accounting Assistant Manager in Irmo, South Carolina

Overview

A successful candidate for this position will be responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager with all accounting and related functions while assuring that the department provides accurate and efficient service to members, branches and then credit union. The position will handle certain aspects of project implementations, general ledger management and have direct oversight of all payment processing (ACH, Wires) and Fedline Advantage Operations; deceased members; and insurance claims for credit life, disability and life savings.

This role requires a strong financial analytical mindset, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a tremendous understanding of the accounting cycle.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the management and oversite of daily processing for Automated Clearing House (ACH) items; the processing of wire transfers; the handling of deceased member accounts; the processing of credit life, credit disability, and life savings insurance claims; the processing of subpoena orders for credit union records; and the verification of sensitive loan file maintenance. Ensures that associates process complete functions and that there is appropriate backup.
  • Primary backup to Accounting Manager in their absence.
  • Responsible for adhering to and enforcing internal controls for assigned areas.
  • Responsible for handling compensation and benefit administration for exempt management associates. Provides backup to the VP of Human Resources for payroll and benefit functions. Acts as Plan Administrator for the credit union's 401k program. Responsible for the annual 401k Census regulatory reporting.
  • Responsible for certain regulatory reporting. IRS Form 945 Return of Withheld Federal Taxes, and Federal Reserve 2900 Report of Transaction Accounts, Other Deposits, and Vault Cash. Ensures that IRS Form W9 Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification and IRS Form 1099 Misc Income regulations are adhered to.
  • Administers the other assigned miscellaneous benefit programs.
  • Primary liaison for compensation/benefit records for annual 401k audit. Primary liaison for compensation records for annual worker's compensation audit. Primary liaison for claims records for annual credit life and credit disability audit. Implements corrective action concerning any relevant findings.
  • Participates in collecting data for budget projection.
  • Performs annual reviews on non-management, non-exempt associate compensation.
  • Serves as the credit union's backup End User Authorization Contact (EUAC) to administer the Fedline Advantage program for processing wire transfers and ACH transactions.
  • Responsible for maintenance of vital records log and assuring compliance with appropriate regulation.
  • Gives updates, as necessary, concerning problems, strengths, and weaknesses for assigned associates to the Accounting Manager.
  • Responsible for reconciling accounts as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
  • All other duties assigned.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting.
  • 3 years management experience.
