Amazon Global Operational Resilience Snr Risk Manager, First Line Risk and Assurance in Ireland - Virtual, Ireland

Description

This Role can be located in the UK, Ireland or Spain.

The 1st Line Risk and Assurance team is seeking a Global Operational Resilience Senior Manager, to lead the various Operational Resilience programmes across multiple regulated entities and their supporting business services and functions. The role, operating within the 1st Line of Defence (1LoD), will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of a number of Business Continuity and Incident Management processes to ensure compliance against various internal polices and regulatory requirements. The role will work very closely with other global upstream and downstream Amazon functions/teams during the design, implementation and execution phases of the various programmes. The successful candidate must possess a proven record of effective incident management capabilities, be innovative and creative when working to solve problems, and demonstrate good judgment while under pressure. Additionally, they will be able to operate autonomously, use discretion when dealing with sensitive and critical information, and apply sound business principles and data analysis to identify problems and initiate actions to address them.

Key job responsibilities

• Strategically lead the development and implementation of the Global Operational Resilience requirements across the relevant regulated entities and their supporting Business Services/Function.

• Facilitate the creation of entity and / or critical business service / function Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) including: identification of critical processes, their recovery time and recovery point objectives, mapping of resources, reporting of risks identified in these processes, and procedures for identifying and managing incidents and crises.

• Take the lead in supporting and facilitating the response and recovery of in-scope businesses during significant business disruptions.

• Manage the development and enhancement of the roadmaps, methodologies, mechanisms, and standard operating procedures to support the Operational Resilience programme.

• Facilitate the creation and reporting of measurable goals and metrics to assess the in-scope entity and / or critical business service / functions overall response and recovery capability. Regularly report key metrics and insights to senior management and regulatory bodies, as required..

• Create and manage the delivery of training to all relevant employees involved within each entity and / or critical business service / function to ensure they are familiar with their roles and responsibilities, and reviewing this annually.

• Facilitate and manage the exercising and testing plan, and submission of outputs and improvement plans to relevant Entity Governing Bodies and other relevant Stakeholders.

• Creation of monitoring processes (Horizon scanning) for potential disruption events and relevant alarms and triggers for early advanced warning to relevant stakeholders.

• Establish processes to track and monitor the implementation of sustainable remedial actions in response to relevant findings from internal activities (Exercises, training, BIAs, Risk Assessments etc) as well as from periodic internal and external audits.

• Conduct an annual management review of the health of the Operational Resilience programme and report to the relevant governing bodies and other stakeholders.

• Foster a team environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and high performance; Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring a balanced workload within the team.

• Build effective networks with key partners across Amazon and facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice adoption across different functions.

• Engage with external stakeholders where relevant for benchmarking and learning opportunities.

• Work independently, setting priorities and managing workload without constant supervision.

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of working in a leadership role in Operational Resilience/Business Continuity Management / Crisis & Incident Management

• Knowledge of relevant Operational Resilience regulations and industry best practises

• Experience in managing the response and recovery to significant business disruptive events.

• Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

• Ability to dive deep into data, existing processes, people, and technology challenges in order to identify risks and opportunities.

• Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

• Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity & across large, complex and global corporate network, partnering & delivering effectively with other teams globally

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple complex projects.

• Possess excellent communication skills and should be able to coordinate with multiple stakeholders not limiting to business operations, legal, health and safety etc.

• Track record of creative problem solving, and the desire to create and build new processes

• Strong time management and multitasking skills as well as attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Risk Certifications and/or qualifications

  • SQL

  • Strong grasp of Office suite programs

  • Working knowledge of Analytical Reporting tools (e.g. Tableau/Quicksight)
