Description

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our client's team in INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana due to growth. The primary focus of this role is to handle diverse accounting tasks related to real estate and lease accounting, contributing significantly to our financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Handle real estate transactions meticulously, including acquisitions, dispositions, and ongoing operations, in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

• Analyze and prepare lease accounting data, including lease classification, recording, and depreciation, adhering to ASC 842 standards.

• Maintain comprehensive and accurate general ledger records for real estate assets and liabilities.

• Actively assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Reconcile bank statements and other accounts, quickly identifying and resolving discrepancies.

• Prepare various accounting schedules and reports related to real estate and leases.

• Assist in preparing tax filings related to real estate activities.

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data capture.

• Continually stay informed about industry best practices and relevant accounting standards for real estate and lease accounting.

Requirements • Possess a strong understanding of US GAAP

• Proficiency in MS Excel is required

• Experience with accruals and prepaid assets is essential

• Ability to complete month-end close activities efficiently

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Solid problem-solving abilities

• Knowledge of accounting software is a plus.
