Controls Engineer- Indianapolis, IN

Job Description:

This company's R&D Automation and Engineering team is looking for a contract Controls Engineer to join their team in Indianapolis, IN. This individual will be responsible for delivering research efficiency via novel and innovative industrial automation controls solutions for this company's research labs. This role will require a strong focus on automation controls and how it relates to process timing / production optimization. You will work both independently and in a team. You will support two primary projects: 1) supporting an automated herbicide testing system that includes industrial robots and AGVs and 2) automation development for their chemical manufacturing.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform process mapping and optimization on existing controls schematics

  • Develop custom machine control system changes (process improvement, restructuring control software, etc.)

  • Prepare process flow diagrams, schematics, and other project documentation

  • Analyze equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine appropriate designs

  • Assist in installation and validation of equipment into service

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Engineering (Automation, EE, EET, ME, MET, Computer Engineering)

  • 5+ years of experience with Industrial Automation and System Integration

  • Must be able to program PLCs from scratch (will work with Allen Bradley, Schneider, Modicon)

  • Must be able to collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams
