The Dow Chemical Company is offering great business career opportunities in a global and international environment. We are looking for motivated candidates interested in the position ofMarket Development Specialist (m/f)to be based inMumbai, India, as part of our MARKETING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.
The Marketing Development Program (MDP) is designed to provide a unique on-boarding opportunity to a candidate aspiring to a career in marketing, in a coached, “learning by doing” environment. During the 9-12 months of the Program, the candidate gets all the skill-build up, coaching, and networking support, to become a fully trained Dow marketer. S/he is given opportunities to demonstrate skills by leading business aligned projects. With support to quickly familiarize with people, technologies, markets and Dow Offerings, s/he develops actionable insights from complex qualitative and quantitative data. Projects should result in the identification, valuation, and implementation of a pipeline of strategic growth opportunities. This project work constitutes the ideal ground to acquire and demonstrate leadership talents, business acumen and practical implementation abilities.
The chosen MDP candidate works within the aegis of the Business Development Team in Dow on different new market projects across various Dow businesses, thereby preparing them for a suitable marketing role in the near future within the company. Under the direction of the Business Development Manager, the chosen candidate will be responsible for achieving high-margin impact by collaborating with the businesses to identify and commercialize regional growth opportunities. Prime responsibilities include understanding and interpreting the external marketplace (e.g. economies and regulations, etc.), identifying market opportunities by engaging with various internal and external stake-holders, understanding competition, mapping relevant value chains for new and existing applications and establishing critical relationships for Dow.
During the MDP, participants will demonstrate or develop essential marketing skills such as:
•Market Research, Project Management, Data-Driven Decision Making, Execution and Implementation, Marketing concepts, marketing strategy development, value chain analysis, value propositions, positioning within region and local market perspective, competitive market analysis, channel strategy, opportunity identification, communication, change management, networking, organization of own and others’ activities, ownership of own skill development, time/priorities management. Some of the trainings lead to externally recognized certifications.

Required Qualifications and Abilities:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Technology/Science, and an MBA in Marketing.
Ability and willingness to learn, develop, evolve, and pioneer new ways to work in a challenging and dynamic working environment, and to kick off, develop and establish the marketing and business development functions in their area.
Relevant industry experience and relationships in India are a critical success factor.
Ability to lead by influence and example, enthuse and engage teams and colleagues, collaborate across functions locally and remotely, build and nurture cross organization networks required to advance opportunities and execute strategies.
Professional level of computer literacy. Additionally, familiarity with digital communication and marketing tools, with remote communication and working environments, and with financial modeling, are an asset.
Proficiency in English is essential, fluency in additional local language(s) is and asset. Excellent communication skills (face to face, virtual / verbal and written) are critical, as well as the ability to operate in a very diverse environment.
Capability to establish productive working relationships with people of diverse styles and backgrounds to create networks.
The position will require the ability to travel (local, regional and international, to customers, other value chain partners, as well as other Dow Locations - up to 50-60% of the time).
