POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will work with the Production Scheduler, Production Gate-Keeper and Maintenance Staff to coordinate and plan maintenance work in a manner which facilitates good communication, efficiency, and minimal equipment downtime. The planner pre-evaluates the need for replacement parts and places orders. This individual plans for interruptions in work and develops backup plans to minimize the interruptions for the production facility. A properly planned and scheduled work force can get more work done with higher quality results in the same amount of resource hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Coordinate with Production Scheduler, Production Gate-Keeper and Maintenance Staff to facilitate work execution in a manner which limits manufacturing downtime.

Hold weekly Handshake / Coordination Meeting with Production Scheduler, Production Gate-Keeper and Maintenance Staff to review and lock the WO schedule for the next week (Submit Schedule Change Requests, where necessary).

Build 2–4-week forward maintenance schedule to balance Preventative, Predictive and Corrective planned work, understanding that Break-in WO’s will affect the locked schedule.

Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor to have daily WO Assignments ready to assign to the Maintenance Technicians during morning meetings.

Process approved work requests through a WO Planning Process.

Develop written WO plans for non-routine tasks (Specifically Corrective WO’s) and communicate plans to the Maintenance Crew through WO Assignments.

As Part of WO Planning:

  • Trigger MOC’s when necessary.

  • Assist with LOTO identification.

  • Identify Permitting needs (Hot, CSE, Elevated, Crane, etc.)

  • Estimates WO Task Durations

  • Ensure that Safe Access has been planned and provided (Scaffolding / Manlifts)

  • Work with Parts Coordinator to specify proper parts needed for a WO.

  • Verify parts are in stock for planned work orders before placing WOs onto the Schedule.

Execute Preventative Maintenance (PM) program within rigid timelines, using written PM Plans.

Manage the Administration of eMaint WO workflow to ensure WO details (hours, parts) are logged and Closed-out.

Organize maintenance shutdown work through review of Plant Needs, Current WO and PM’s that require an Outage.

Responsible for Outage Ownership

  • Request and organize shutdowns for maintenance work, making sure scope does not exceed timeline for critical path.

  • Host Outage Planning Meetings.

  • Primary communication coordinator / Outage Updates.

Create long term schedule.

  • 12 months, laid out at the beginning of each year.

  • Planned and Preventive Maintenance (PM’s and PdM’s).

  • All contractor Maintenance Agreement Tasks and Site-Visits.

Plans for interruptions in work and develops backup plans.

As Point Person for Contractor Management

  • Interface with variety of contractors coordinate contractor activities and facilitate issuance of safe work permits, when needed.

  • Ensure contractor are approved to work on-site – COI’s, safety training, purchasing W9.

  • Obtain estimates from contractors and schedule on-site contractor work.

  • Responsible for Procurement tasks (Quoting, Requisitioning and Receiving) Contractor Services for the Maintenance Function (using Ivalua Procurement Software).

Primary Owner for the Plant Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems.

Record Keeper responsibility for Audit Purposes (Pulling Certs and WO examples from CMMS and other record retention).

Acts as back-up to Maintenance Supervisor when Supervisor is out.

Take alternating weekend phone coverage for Maintenance Crew Call-ins.

Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Responsible for Food Safety and Quality by following company Quality Systems.

The Ideal Candidate

Desired Background

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering.

• 5 years’ minimum of direct experience in chemical industry with minimum 1-2 years of Maintenance-related experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Talents

More specifically, we would seek the following attributes and competencies for the position:

  • Experience managing contractors is a plus.

  • Familiarity with common equipment used in chemical facility such as pumps, heat exchangers, reactors, etc.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple jobs, in a fast-paced environment with constant interruption.

  • Ability to use P&ID’s and procedures to determine appropriate LOTO isolation points to facilitate proper isolation of equipment before permitting repair work to begin.

  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and eMaint or similar maintenance software (CMMS).

  • Individual must be able to work productively within a team environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.

  • Individual must be accurate and trustworthy, with a positive attitude and embracing change in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
